The Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone Faction Showdown event is the latest in-game event making its way to multiplayer and the battle royale. As part of Season 5 for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone, the Faction Showdown is tied in with the arrival of some new Operators.
Season 5 sees Graves make a return as the commander of Shadow Company alongside Oz, a brand-new character expected to feature heavily in the ongoing battle between Task Force 141 and Shadow Company.

Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone Faction Showdown start date
The Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone Faction Showdown event will begin on August 4, 2023 and come to an end on August 16, 2023.

The Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone Faction Showdown event sees players picking one of two factions. You can choose to become a member of Shadow Company or join forces with Task Force 141.
To pick a faction, head to the events tab at the top of the screen.

Regardless of which faction you select, you need to complete the solitary community challenge. Here's what you need to do:
- Score up to 50 kills
In addition to the main community challenge, there are a number of faction challenges to complete.
Task Force 141 challeneges
For Task Force 141, challenges will involve using melee weapons and performing finishing moves. Another challenge requires you to score longshots with battle rifles.
Shadow Company challenges
If you decide to join Shadow Company, there's a set of different objectives to complete. Challenges involve scoring SMG eliminations from behind, using launchers, and lethal equipment in a bid to gain the upper hand.
In short, you'll be using everything available in your loadout.

Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone Faction Showdown rewards
By completing one step of the Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone Faction Showdown event, you'll unlock a handful of rewards. Here's all there is to know:
- Complete the main challenge - Calling card and emblem
- Complete Faction challenges - Earn battle pass tier skips and vehicle skins
- Complete all Faction challenges - Earn a weapon blueprint.
If you complete all five Faction challenges, there are other rewards up for grabs too.
For the Faction that emerges victorious, you'll earn a free Operator skin for either Soap or Horangi along with a weapon camouflage and a one-hour double battle pass XP token.
